DRONESS tool

DRONESS is an easy-to-use interface, which lets you design an off-grid UAV-based mobile network in an intuitive way. We provide both a standalone and a MATLAB-integrated version, which present the same interface: the input section is divided into four tabs, each dedicated to a different aspect of the optimization; the results tab will appear about a minute after clicking “Run”, and it will show the optimal trajectory the UAVs should follow, the size of the energy generation and storage systems, the cost associated with each of these elements, and a comparison with an on-grid alternative.

In order to improve the user experience, we have preconfigured most of the input fields, and most of these are only shown when clicking on “Advanced settings”. Please note that the irradiation data needs to be on a minute basis, and should come in the same format as the data file available below [1].
